Interactive live music program featuring Laura McClam of Ladybug Melodies. Laura has been
using music to teach children with autism for almost 20 years. Her interactive show is a delight for
all and features songs from Laura's original CDs, "How Are You Feeling?" and "Being a Friend."
The show will begin at 11 am. CDs will be available for purchase.

Children's activity centers including a Crafts Corner where kids can create artwork and decorate
holiday ornaments, and parent-recommended games and puzzles.

Educational toys from Discovery Toys, a selection of children's books especially for
peers and siblings, and Melissa and Doug puzzles will be on display and available for purchase.
Catalogues from distributors of other special needs toys and games will also be available.

Browse the CT FEAT Autism Resource Library, and enter a free drawing for an autism resource
book of your choice.

Computer and other media stations will be available for parents to sample parent-recommended
computer and video games, and internet resources that can be used for leisure or learning.

How to Create a Toilet Training Program For a Child with An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

When: December 11, 2007
Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Rocky Hill Congregational Church

Guest Speaker: James Loomis, Ph.D.

Dr. James Loomis from the Center for Children with Special Needs will be our guest speaker. Dr. Loomis will describe how to create an individual toilet training program for a child with ASD. There will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions.

Dr. Loomis is a child and family psychologist. He specializes in autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and pediatric illness. He received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan. He completed a fellowship at the Deveroux Foundation and postdoctoral training at the Kantor Family Institute. Dr. Loomis provides psychological evaluations and school based consultation as well as facilitating social skills training groups. He is a licensed psychologist in the State of Connecticut. His professional interests include the development of social skills, adaptation to pediatric illness, and school based programs for children and adolescents.
